Rehab Associates Foundation Mission Statement
The mission of the Rehab Associates Foundation is to:
- Make physical fitness accessible to individuals of all ages, race, and level of physical ability
- Increase the awareness of the benefits of being physically fit and making fitness a lifelong habit
Rehab Associates Foundation is dedicated to promoting fitness throughout the life span with particular emphasis on the youth in our community. The population is aging and more Americans will be living longer, many with chronic health conditions or functional limitations. Life expectancy is often used as a measure to gauge the overall health of a population. Although the life expectancy has increased due to improvements in lifestyle, education, and advances in medicine, there are still many conditions that are on the rise including diabetes and high blood pressure. Obesity and overweight are risk factors in both of these conditions.
Obesity is rising at an alarming rate in the United States, especially in children, and is directly affected by exercise and diet. Children need encouragement and support from their parents and educators to exercise. By providing opportunities and accessibility to exercise for all ages in both competitive and noncompetitive atmospheres, and through education, we can promote improved health for our community.
